David Douglas, an intrepid and resourceful Scot, traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest just twenty years after Louis and ClarkÂs epic journey. His task was to collect, identify and transport all the best and most interesting plants to the gardens of Great Britain. The tenacity with which he pursued his goal is nothing less than astonishing.

Andy McKinnon, biologist and co-author of four best-selling plant guides, is known for his wit and entertaining style. There will be something for everyone--- historian, gardener, native plant enthusiast or lover of adventure.
