Choice Daisies

It's spring time and I am picturing summer with white Shasta daisies in a sunny spot I am replanting in my yard. I am concerned that daisies can be leggy and kind of weedy looking, but I often see clumps in other yards that look like the tall strong flowers I am imagining. So--any advice on varieties? I don't want the dwarfs --stems 14-16" or more are what I have in mind.

I have Shastas and have also been annoyed with how leggy they get. Last year I saw some advice that seems to have helped (can't remember source): when they get about 20" tall, cut them back to 10" - seems counter-intuitive, but it made them shorter and less leggy.

If you're near central seattle and want some for free, I'd happily give up a clump - just e-mail.

14-16 in. would be dwarf, actually. Other Shastas grow much taller than that. Do you want Shasta daisies specifically, or any among various daisies? Asteraceae is one big family.
