Interesting to know that a birch took root, I did not know we had any nearby. I would like to try saving both the maple and the birch, but the maple is growing rather too close to the house (as can be seen from the image): can it be transplanted, and if it can, what is a good time of the year?

This one has *huge* leaves:

Top pic is Lapsana communis, nipplewort--a weed.
also showing is some Epilobium around it, one of the fireweeds.
Bottom pic is broadleaf Dock, Rumex obtusifolius, an introduced weed. But dock has some medicinal purposes i think, it is one of the plants that you can use the juice of it to counteract nettle stings.

Number 2: The plant to the left of the Birch looks like a Nettle to me.

Leyland cypress is a 60' plus tree, it won't be able to stay where it is either, otherwise eventually swelling into the fence/wall behind.

If you are planning to shear it there will still be the problem is squeezing between it and the backdrop.

Thanks for the info. That is a fence in the background and have to figure out what to do about the Leylands. I topped them this spring - which I assume will control the height? - and plan to shear them, but I can see what you are saying about the swelling into the fence behind.
