Is it ceanothus or caryopteris?

Ceanothus for sure, don't know which one. I wish they didn't get so big. I'd love a few of them but only if they were about two feet by two feet.

Some think 'Victoria' and 'Skylark' are the same. I have planted two plant acquired under both names here so I can do a side-by-side comparison.

Victoria impressiva gets huge. I planted several and they're going nuts. Have to prune them as soon as they stop blooming. Saw one that had turned into a giant tree. Really like these bushes / trees! Planted a few Dark Stars also. Saw some of those get really big in Tualatin.

Ceanothus can be pruned to your desired height. Some are used as hedges. They like sun and mine like to be watered. Prune after blooming since that's when new growth spurts.

These are awesome when in bloom, fluffy masses of bright blue, spectacular, and the bees love them. Nice evergreen plants, looks good all year.

Mine get these weird berry clusters at the end of the spent blooms, which then bloom white off and on all year. Then in winter these turn into hard brown sticks. I bought really sharp strong small pruners to cut these off in early February when they are sticks without blooms. It's a great job for a sunny day in February because there's LOTS of sticks and each bush takes a couple hours of snipping.

Doe's Victoria rule or is their a better cultivar?

Unless somebody has come up with a new one called 'Victoria Impressiva' - probably illegitimate name being I guess partly Latin yet post-1959 in application - someone must have confused Ceanothus 'Victoria' with C. impressus when labeling.

'Victoria' (probably really 'Skylark') either rules or is not the best choice depending on what attributes you want.
