For fast growing shrubs here, among others, I really like elderberries. There are quite a few to choose from now, but I like the "plain" best, I think, American "red" elderberry.
Grows fast, puts on a lot of growth even in the first year from a potted shrub, I'm not too concerned about the flowering but the berries are lovely...

Spirea Anthony Waterer. Raspberry flowers late summer thru fall. Pest free and free growing. You can cut back each year to a few inches above ground... or let stand as is and prune if necessary.

Rubus odoratum: fruit-bearing shrub, foliage turns red in fall, fast growing, grows easily to 4 ft. if not cut back.

Weigela 'Carnaval': another fast grower, heavy bloomer in July(2 shades of pink) and again in fall, variegated foliage, a personal fave! Mine are currently 5 ft and 4 ft wide. Wonderful against a dark wall...

diabelo ninebark is a fast growing shrub. You can get a red leafed or shartruce (spelling?)colored leaf. Has a nice flower head that can be used in dried arrangements.

HELLO, I'M THINKING OF MAKING A NEW FLOWER GARDEN AND WANTED TO PLANT A TIGERS EYE SUMCA TREE BUT WHERE IT WOULD BE IS ABOUT 3-4 FT AWAY FROM MY SEPTIC BOXES AND THE LINES RUN THE OTHER WAY, IS THIS SAFE FOR MY BOXES AND LINES?? ITS IN FULL HOT SUN ALLDAY LONG.. THANKS SO MUCH KATHY
