Hardy manzanita

Besides the usual uva-ursi, as anybody ever tried to grow other species of arctostaphylos in Z5 or colder? I'm thinking about those species that grow at high altitude in California, not sure about the name though...I think one is Arctostaphylos patula, wich I saw on a trip to Yosemite.
