Current bloomers

It has been brutally cold here in Minnesota, and I've had trouble managing to keep my basement growing room warm enough while maintaining some sort of reasonable humidity. In spite of that, though, things are blooming, and I'm grateful for small favors. These pictures are not very good, because they were taken in the grow room, under a combination of fluorescent and HPS lighting, which throws the colors off significantly. It's supposed to warm up quite a bit this weekend, so I can bring some of them upstairs and get better pics without having them shrivel in the terribly low humidity. Next purchase for the house is going to be a whole-house humidifier.

Here's one that loves the low temps - the color is actually a much brighter pink:

It has half a dozen buds developing - I'll have to take better pictures when more are open.

Oerstedella centradenia looks so fragile, but the low temps have not bothered it a bit.

Stenorhynchos speciosus is just starting to open its flowers - the flower stalk will elongate as more buds develop.

I have some others I'd like to post, but I think I'll wait until the weekend. We'll get through winter somehow!

Tucker
