My Pastas....

My 7 year old son and I were having a conversation about trees and plants losing their leaves and going dormant in the winter. This was precipitated by him asking why I had to plant my new hostas instead of playing football with him - I told him that I had to get them in the ground before winter, which led to the discussion about what plants do in the winter, etc.

All of a sudden he piped up and said "do your pastas do that mommy?"

It is fun to see them have an appreciation for my gardens, even if they don't get all the words right. And they don't think it is at all weird that my pastas have names :O)

I took a 3yr old along a row of hosta in pots naming them as I went. When we finished I asked him which he liked the best.
Maybe you should guess the one the bugs ate all the leaves off of. The 2nd from the left in this photo.

None of those 6 looked good.
That was the low to high light experiment pots and there were about 30 along the driveway, many looked good.

More photos of plants in pots looking alright.

68 so I remember it well, the 3yr old has a drunk crazy mother and I was hoping to be a positive influence.
Might guess she got in the way of me teaching the 3yr old.

I remember Art well and have always wondered why no one has done an update of that show. And it would be easy to stage.

My wife has a knee replacement and doesn't walk so well, 3yr old granddaughter asked "MawGaw why you walk that way". 5 yr old sister says; "Because she is OLD Reese, she's OLD".

Recent study of kids and what is most important in their lives and it is grandparents.

I "AM" Coach PawPaw Butchie! And Patsy is picking up grandson Noah at school as I write this.

If there is anything you like about me it came from my PawPaw almost 70 yrs ago. For example if you have followed some of the things I'm doing, the bog and use of waste water comes directly from words that ring in my ears from my PawPaw. "Waste not want not"

I water my plants in the bog with shower water then another bog with kitchen sink and washer water. I capture rain water and use it. If I throw anything in the garbage that can be recycled I know MY PawPaw is watching.

So, I was trying to be the PawPaw for that 3yr old who is not my blood as well as my grandchildren like the PawPaw who let me ride the horse while he plowed.

Eo, Art Linkletters son did do a remake of his fathers show, it was on just a few times, and was every bit as entertaining as his fathers, you might be able to google it and see if you can order the showes.
I was watching a show on TV last night and was appalled at the garbage that is on now days, from music to veidos and TV programing, where is the Bill Cosby and Art Linkletter of today, have we totally lost what is truley funny!oh heavy sigh.

When I told DH I was buying hosta, he thought I said pasta, so he told me to get a bunch.

MaryAnn...you are so lucky! Wish I would be told to get a bunch!

Carol...I am the wife, and yes, I did play football! I have two boys, 5 and 7, and they both are totally into all the "ball" sports, so I play a lot!
