Is this a melon?

Hello,

Last posting about this plant brought the thought that perhaps it is a bird nest gourd. Now the yellow flowers have produced a fuzzy green oval shaped fruit that I cannot find pictures of on the web. Not having any experience in growing viney plants, I am perplexed by this dropped-by-bird poop plant. Does anyone know what this mystery plant has produced? One of its leaves is 9' wide and the plant is still producing 5 petaled bright yellow flowers. The fruit? is now 4" long. Thanks in advance for looking.

Kindly,

Jane

Certainly looks like one to me! Doesn't have the ribbing of my nascent pumpkins (so it's not a pumpkin), but the flowers sound like typical pumpkin/squash blossoms. Could be a gourd of some kind, or a melon of any number of types (cantaloupe, watermelon, etc.) My pumpkins start out a similar mottled light and dark green, then abruptly begin to "color" with the typical orange coloration.

Consider it an adventure! ;)

Thanks, Marty - it is an adventure, lol. There are two of them so far, same size, so we'll see. Hope it's something I can eat, lol.

Best,
Jane
