Are you looking for just fruit or the actual trees?

Either way, you may get more responses by posting on the Fruit & Orchard forum, there have been cider discussions there over the years.

Your best bet for fruit is to attend an apple-tasting event where dozens of apple varieties are on display.

As with all plantings of orchard fruits you need to find out which cultivars can perform adequately in your locality. Have you looked at information from Cooperative Extension?

Raintree Nursery in Morton carries a number of cider apple varieties. They generally have a cider pressing and tasting event in October some time.

The Home Orchard Society has an event this month -- All about Fruit. Can obtain lots of info about apples, cider and more.

I'm looking for trees. I'd like to make hard cider from some of the harvested fruit and I know that fermentation changes the final flavor. Does anyone have experience making it? Is there a local Seattle area person that I might be able to ask? I'm in Snohomish if that helps.

Clackamas County is tempting just because I need a good road trip, but the three kids that come along might not approve of the destination. :-)

Different climate in the Willamette Valley, some kinds they use will not be suitable for Snohomish. I suppose the Snohomish County Extension office near I-5 in south Everett may have this publication.

There are a few main categories
First you want a lot of high sugar types in the blend, like Golden Delicious.
Next you want some tart acidic acids known as 'sharps'
Finally you will want 5-10% bitter apples. "a lot of wild feral apples are really bitter, and for hard cider this is good.
Acids will be high in most Western WA apples this fall. We hardly had any summer heat.
