Wintering geraniums in paper sacks

In the Portland area do you winter your geraniums that are in pots in a protected area - garage - that is dry or take them out of the pots and dry and put in paper sacks til spring? There is a protected area under a deck, but would be damp.

There are probably 10 clay pots that are gallon size to store.

Hi Karan, I've had pretty good luck with leaving them in the pot and storing them in my garage as is.. I bring them back out around April or so. I live in the portland area, also.

I leave them in their pots and shuffle them in/out of the garage as required over winter, same as the fuchsias. Mine are still outside but I'll bring them in when night temps drop below freezing and stay there... any day now!

The geraniums are in large 16" diameter plastic pots. The fuchsias are in 12" hanging baskets and pots, both plastic.

(I'm near PCC Rock Creek, a bit cooler than Portland but warmer than Hillsboro.)
