Well, I went back to Red Barn Nursery, but I guess they are starting to take notice that people are switching over to organic lawn and garden care, as both a 40lb bag of corn meal as well as a bag of mallasses jumped to $45/bag. They just lost a customer!

I went to Cedar Park to Callaghan's Feed Store and found my old 50lb paper bags of corn meal for $15/bag. So, $30 to fertilize my lawn instead of $90. If they can keep that price around that, they just gained a customer for life!!

I do appologize for calling out Red Barn Nursery. I feel that by almost doubling the price of organic lawn and garden care items, they are either trying to take advantage of their customers who use these items, or, they flat out picked the wrong supplier to switch to.

Ok, well, to give an update for anyone who is in my area, I contaced the owner of Red Barn Nursery and seems there has been a huge mixup of pricing on corn meal. Officially, they have 50lb bags of corn meal for $24.95/bag, and usually do not order them until people start asking for them.

Still, at Callahan's feed store just up the highway in Cedar Park, you can get a 50lb bag for $15/bag. Quick in and out, and they load it for you.

So you know corn is a commodity. You will not pay less for it than the Chinese are paying to get it shipped to them. When I started this in 2002 I paid $2.95 for a bag of corn meal. Commodity prices have changed.
