CGM source in Colorado?

I just discovered through the Colorado Ext. office that it is illegal to buy CGM from a co-op or feed store that is selling it for livestock feed. It's use for lawn care is patented by Iowa state and it gave a link of "authorized" dealers. Of course, there wasn't a single one in the state of Colorado. I've checked the co-op and feed store here, and they don't carry it anyway. When I contacted one of the companies on the list they gave, they wanted ~ $36 per bag, PLUS another $35 per bag to ship!!! They ARE proud of that stuff aren't they?

I put down SBM last weekend, but I would have liked to use CGM for its weed suppression abilities. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced source for western Colorado?

If CGM is advertised and sold as a crabgrass preventer, the patent holder is due a royalty. If CGM is sold as feed or a fertilizer, a royalty payment is not required. The type of store that's selling the CGM doesn't affect the royalty payment.

I just go to the feed store, ask for my feed, pay for it, put it in my car & leave.

I don't talk to them about feeding my herd.......

The feed stores here don't carry it, only soybean meal, alfalfa pellets, and cracked corn.

When I went to the only local gardening center in town, a small family business, they didn't have any, but she did say she would look into it, so maybe there will be a source here eventually. There seems to be an awful lot of threads on this forum from people all over the country having trouble finding CGM. Why is this product so hard to find?

I just bought my CGM from Greeley Elevator and the #50 bag was just over $15.
