I have had this plant for about 15 years and it has flowered pretty regularly during that time. About 3 years ago the plant had become very leggy and the leaves ugly due to sun burn, the plant had been placed to close to the glass. I decided to take some drastic action by cutting the base of the stem off just below a couple of arial roots and decapitating the top leaving about 3 pairs of leaves. The plant responded by producing two new growths at the top and plenty of roots at the base. This year it has produced a flower spike on each growth.
