It's nice that you finished that afgan. Maybe some little old lady never got to finish it. My mother has finished a couple of quilts from pieces that she bought at garage sales. It is a shame to waste it.
Is anyone else actually wishing for snow? It's been too long since we had some really good snowman weather. I wonder if my 8 year old twins think that snowmen are SUPPOSED to have leaves and mud snuck to them. lol It seems like it's been a two or three years since we've had a white snowman. All we've had this year is one very light dusting that had melted by the time they got home from school so they didn't even get a chance to make a snowball.

Well, I remember the last big snowfall was on March 15, 1999. We got about a foot here and when it melted some and refroze during the night, I didn't realize how slick the back deck was. Went out to put wood in the furnace before heading to work, this was about 6 am, and slipped and twisted my ankle really bad. Instead of staying home, I went ahead on to work and being that all our vehicles were standard, that of course was my 'clutch foot'. Then a couple of days later my brother died, he was in a nursing home, so had to go about making arrangements for him and didn't stay off that foot for any length of time. A couple of months later, wound up in the hospital with a deep vein blood clot. So, I'm darn sure that I am more careful these days.

I went in the hospital May 19th and that same evening DD was admitted and had her baby.

I felt really yucky all day, with vomiting and diarrhea starting about 3 last night. Not sure if it was something I ate or a sneaky 'stomach bug'

We sure do need rain or snow or both, it is just too dang dry.

Hope you all got the little 1" (or so) rain that we did. So far, no snow. Sure glad we got it; I just remembered last night that I had planted a couple of fruit trees late and I should have been watering them along. Hope they are already dead!

We cleaned up the fence row from the new fence in one field and now have the other one to go. We did it last Sunday and it was a record setting heat day. Sure was nice and not very much wind.

I got the last of my cuttings out of the water and into pots and the rest I will just keep pinched off and toss. I don't need anymore (except maybe the Homestead Purple verbena).

Donna, I finally got one little slipper knitted and the GK's weren't too impressed. I guess I will do them anyway.

I am just now getting rested up from the Holidays, and wouldn't you know, have taken a bad cold. DH still has his but is up and going, doing chores, etc. Sure hope we don't the stomach thing you have Donna.
Hope you are feeling much better by now.

I am reading gardening books (bought some for less than half price and am very pleased with them) and trying to get a seed order ready.

Hallelujah, I was able to get in without having to log in for the umpteenth time.

GD, my stomach thing only lasted that one day and I feel back to normal, whatever that might be for me. DH has a cold but doubled up on his vitamin C and seems to be getting better.

We got about an inch of rain last night, sure was nice. Now, I can burn some of my trash again without worrying about setting the woods on fire.

All the GKs here seemed to like their crocheted ponchos, hats and scarves. Never know about the ones that live away. SIL looked woebegone that I didn't crochet anything for him but he declined a poncho. lol. Asked him if he would wear a crocheted cap and acted like he would, so I made him one from "camoflage" yarn. No way would he accept anything else. One GD wants a black and purple poncho. I didn't make her one, wasn't sure if she would like one but said she would. I had made her a beret with a matching scarf. So, I need to get busy on that project.

Trying to clean up my desk area and file stuff that I have just tossed on there for the past couple of months. And, I had told myself I wasn't going to do that, I would file it away soon as I got it. File it or toss it, but I have been a bad girl.

I have got my rear in gear and started back on my treadmill, having to go slow to get back in the groove. Since I lost a few pounds with my yucky spell, would like to keep it off and start getting some more off. Need to go grocery shopping, but decided today was just too messy to go out and drive 20 mi. to the grocery store. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Wasnt going to post this morning-nothing happening, but just HAD to. It sounds as if I could have written each post I've read.
Treadmill? yes, i've been getting back on, just taking a bit slower that the last time (5 years ago!) but- i am putting in 30 min a day, speeds just slower as i have to watch my heart rate, if i remember right, about 140--but if i start off too fast, it jumps to 170.
chickens still doing good, gldno, wish you lived close enough to share my chickens-lol--we'd split days taking care of them--then we could both satisfy our urge to have fresh eggs. i've never seen the like--they took a rotted round bale of hay sitting in the garden-and demolished it in a week!
now, garden is another topic--dont all the seed catalogs look grand?if i just had enough room to plant all the seeds on my orders. but--seeds keep well in the ref.
we really need to work on new fences, my problem is, hubby isnt able-and son is working full time. forget any help you could hire--myself and 8 year old great grandson work harder.
but--wasnt the rain nice? grass is still green this winter, was 72 last sunday. the mare that was hurt 8-9 years ago has limbered up enough to run smooth, i've noticed. arthritis must not have settled into her bad leg very bad, lol-not like her keepers. i say that, because with our animals, you cant say "owners", its backwards around here--they "own" us.

Made a trip to town for groceries, went by health dept (my ex-working place) and chatted with employees a bit. Miss seeing them, don't miss the work tho'.

Visited a couple of thrift shops and picked up a couple more books to add to the dozens I have already. I always have a book or two going at any one time. Have several hundred down at my shop but the really interesting ones I put aside until I read them, then will sell them.

Finished the "camo" crocheted cap I was making for my SIL. Couldn't figure out why it wasn't doing what I thought the directions said, so just kind of finished it by guess and by golly and turned out okay. Went back and really read the directions for the umpteenth time and saw I was reading one line wrong the whole time. How dumb! Matter of fact I made two of the caps, the one seemed a little large and so moved down a size in hooks and made another. The first one fits my head pretty good, but not sure if SIL has a big head too. lol. I remember when they measured heads for caps and gowns before high school graduation, my head measured larger than most of the other girls. Thick skull I guess.

Well, DGD got back to me and told me what size poncho she wants so guess I need to get busy on hers now, then DD was wanting a hat like I made her daughter.

Donna, you're making me ashamed of not getting busy with my yarns.....I still am feeling crappy with this cold; that is my excuse for today!

We sold the calves yesterday and they did really well. Glad that is over.

I had to pinch back my coleus again this morning, but I just pitched them, except for one nice dark copper one. I put those in some water. The daylilies need to be trimmed back now. They are hitting the lights.

If the aspirin ever kicks in, I may go outside and pick up limbs from the yard. These dratted Elm trees have done it again.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and let you know that we are still kicking down this way. Just a bit windy today. Had just two tenths of an inch of rain last night but we could use more. Everything is so dry.

Just don't want to be negative about how hard it can be to get to the GW forums, so will only say that I am being positive and that things will improve before more people leave the groups.
