How is everyone?

How are you all doing? That was some wind last night well north of Joplin. I hope all can be righted as soon as possible. We were fortunate that we only lost our ridge vent off the garage, and can fix it ourselves.

Hi Pheobe - We got some very heavy rain but the tornado warnings weren't too close to us. My husband and I stayed up until the storms passed and I wondered if we would have to wake the kids up and rush them to the basement. I'm glad we didn't have to do that. They didn't even know it stormed.

I had no damage but some light stuff from the yard blew down in the field. Neosho Tree Service was going to brush hog here today, but they had customers with limbs on their houses. He always calls to let me know if they can't come and when they will be here. Sometimes the weather changes their plans. Christie is was late before I got to bed; my weather radio kept making noises after it had passed here. Some of the warnings were on until 5 am so I didn't shut the thing off even though I know it was over. It would have been late by the time it got to you. It must be nice to be a kid and know your parents are keeping you safe.

It was a bad storm last night -- I had tarped the new, big dirt pile within an inch of its life and fortunately they held pretty well, but what a muddy mess around it this AM. No sirens went off in Silver Creek, so that was a Good Thing.

How well I remember that feeling, Helen!

We got strong wind and some good rain. I went to bed and my DH stayed up until ll taking care of me! I didn't even know there were storm warnings or storms until the next morning.

I do dread the storm season and it seems to be starting early.

I think we have a tornado watch again for this morning. Did it storm in Joplin overnight? My heart goes out to the folks that went through the last tornado there. I think it must make their heart pound every time it thunders and will for a long time.

Phoebe - I assume you live north of Joplin? Your member page says you joined Gardenweb in 2001 so I know you're not new but maybe new to the Ozarks forum? If so I want to welcome you. I really enjoy talking to other gardeners in the Ozarks so I'm glad you found us.
