Right now I have just sprayed entire lawn with round-up. Will kill almost anything that is green but will not hurt dormant bermuda grass.

Cool, Beerhog, I was going to say that but figured no one would believe me. It works! When the Bermuda comes it, it chokes out most anything the Round-up didn't get, after some fertilizer.

No kidding??? I just bought some Bayer Advanced weed killer last night. Will it accomplish the same thing? Or should I just hold onto it until the summer weeds try to invade and go ahead and spray with the roundup now? And one other thing... How about a green dye to mix with the spray? Has anybody tried that? I asked about it at Lowes last night and the woman there said they have never carried anything like that. Would'nt it make it much easier to see where you've sprayed???

my, i was hoping by the header that someone had found a pre-emergence FOR BERMUDA !!i've found a killer that SAYS it will kill it after it comes up--triple strength, and sprayed 3 times, but i doubt an atomic blast would kill it. now--if enough people WANT it--and would just come dig it up--but, no, roots go down FEET!!

I use Atrazine before the bermuda starts to green. I mix 2oz. Roundup; 2oz. 2,4-D; and 1oz. of Atrazine per gallon of water. This will kill anything green plus the Atrazine will work as a pre-emergent. Make sure not to spray Atrazine on Bermuda once the greening has begun or it will severely stunt it!

I'm constantly amazes that someone-anyone-WANTS bermuda. That stuff is the worse enemy to gardeners--worse that honeysuckle, or poison ivy.
well to each his own, and i hope your bermuda is as you like--and mine all dies.

ceresone- if you can find it, methyl bromide will kill anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ceresone - I was amazed when I found out people plant Bermuda on purpose. It's on my most hated weed list. I have read though, that WILD Bermuda, like we have, is more aggressive than what is sold for lawns.
Ours is still dormant (whitish) right now, so Round-Up most likely wouldn't hurt it. If you're trying to GET RID OF Bermuda, it helps to let it grow several inches tall and THEN spray it with Round Up.
