Yes, more than likely it's the SBM. Its not a bad thing and It shouldn't last long. Once it dries out the smell should be gone.

Keeping in mind that most all soybeans grown today are the genetically engineered varieties the use of any soybean product should be unacceptable to an organic person.
If enough people cease purchasing these GE products the people that grow them will stop growing them, just as many farmers in India have done.

I am interested in what Kimmsr has to say. Organic gardening for some people encompasses more than just what grains you apply to your lawn, but the world around you and what impact your decision has on many different levels.

This is an organic lawn care forum. Simply substituting one type of fertilizer, organic, for another, synthetic, is not organic lawn care and using products unacceptable to an organic person (such as GE products) is very much not acceptable.
Organic lawn care, just like organic gardening starts with the soil, making that soil into a good, healthy soil that will grow strong and healthy plants.

The smell sure caught me off guard. It wasn't extremely potent, and I don't think it wafted very far, but it certainly gained my attention as I walked through my yard. It stuck around for a couple of days and then went away.
