Okay, there was a lot of snow at Christmas so the lichen would not have stood out then. The previous time I was in the area was in summer when foliage would have hidden the fact that so many trees were so covered. So the huge amount was probably not as sudden as it seemed at first, but there is definitely a lot of it, and more than there used to be. On the other hand, I think there has always been more there than there is here.

On March 21, I was passing by Leslie (south of Harrison) and noticed Lots of it too. It was a damp, rainy day and if the temps had been cooler, it would have almost looked like ice forming on the trees. This morning was rainy and the woods out back of the house looked especially lichen-ey .... so, to me, it does seem to be an extra licheny year in places. Years ago, I used to notice the same thing at times on the bluffs around Russellville.
