So far, putting the jelly on a dish on the covered porch hasn't drawn ants or flies to the extreme (no ants at all).

I also have a platform feeder with a roof I built for orange halves and/or jelly that I hang in a tree. This year I am using an old seed feeder that had the glass broken and have hung it on a shepherd's hook right outside the porch. I finally saw them at the oranges this morning. Count so far, 2 males and l female.

This the one I built from cedar..a picture from last year. That tree is no more!

This year they seem to be drinking out of this kind of HB feeder as much as anything else.
