As a rule spending your money on "organic fertilizers" is more often than not a waste of that money since most people, just utilizing the organic matter they already have and mostly throw away, is sufficient.

-kimmsr, I didn't find the price of bagged organic fertilizer was any more expensive than what I was paying for non-organic. Sounds like a fair enough trade to me.

I have a compost, but it makes only enough to supply my gardens. It is too much for me to have compost hauled in. And even if I did I don't know that I would be able to do that much work.

I may use corn meal, soy bean, (etc) as soon as I locate some and figure out how much to use. I only have enough corn meal laying around to make my sweet cornbread- which I am not sharing with the lawn! ;-)

I read on this forum about another brand of bagged organic fertilizer. Some said it had salts in it that were bad. I just want to know if this Perfect Blend is good or not. I don't expect that I can make the change overnight! Like I said above, I think organic fertilizer is a good first step for me. At least it is a step in the right direction!

Soil bacteria, the Soil Food Web, are important to not only our soils health but to ours. To get a good active Soil Food Web you need to build up the soil you have with organic matter since the soil bcteria, the Soil Food Web, needs organic matter to live. When first starting, for the first 3 to maybe 5 years, one might have a need to add something that could get more soil bacteria into their soil, because it can take time for them to regenerate naturally, but if the soil does not have enough organic matte to support that Soil Food Web adding some commercial "fertilizer" is not going to help much if at all. For those of use with ample quantities of organic matter in the soil, and that has been there for a while, adding some commercial "fertilizer" will not do much, if anything since our soil is good and healthy already and a good reliable soil test will show that, soil pH in the proper range and a balanced nutrient supply in the soil.

There's no way to come close to building your soul quickly and in a balanced way like biotic fertilizers do it. This is because they will put everything into the soil that bacteria need, including the bacteria, fungi, etc. plus the food (minerals) to feed the microbes and get them to grow exponentially. Then, as the massive buildup of bacteria mostly die, their billions of bodies are the perfect mix of minerals, in the perfect organic form, to feed plants. You have almost immediate humus built right inside your soil, not in a compost heap waiting to cure but losing most of it's nitrogen and carbon to the air in the meantime.

Humus is the undigested organic matter left in soil after the Soil Food Web works on what they want. Spending money on products that are supposed to "add" humus to soil is generally a waste of money since most sources of humus, organic matter, can be obtained for free.
About the only people that benefit from selling things like this are the people selling it.
