Since a basic premise of organic gardening/turf management is to feed the soil, make the soil as healthy as possible so it will grow strong and healthy plants, I am never sure just what a "starter fertilzier" is. If you have had a good, reliable soil test from Rutgers and your soil is in a good, healthy condition then there is no need to apply a nutrient source now. If you've not had a good, reliable soil test done yet, now is the time.
