We just got 1/2 inch of rain and some hail....don't know yet if it hurt the plants.

The rain would have knocked the peonies over even without the hail.

Glenda, I have 4 that belonged to my Grandmother, (Wish I could remember the name) they are white, with red center, very fragrant, much more than the new ones a bought a dozen years ago.
I, too, picked before the storn, the iris are blooming so beautiful, so I combined my Peonies with Iris.

I need to move mine. I have three all smothered by shrubs or shaded by trees. I can imagine the smell of those beautiful flowers. I was weeding this morning fun after the rain and got close to some J. honeysuckle just starting to bloom - wonderful fragrance!

I remember my mother having a whole row of peonies.
Where we lived when we were growing up.
Mother always used to take them to the cemetery for her family.
I remember they smelled so nice. But they sure had a lot of ants crawling all over them. They were way out in the front, by the road.
Is that normal for them to have ants on them?

My grandmother had pink peonies in her yard.
