It's usually best to wait until after the last frost. Warm weather veggies like tomatoes will just sit there in the cold soil if you plant them now. They won't grow any faster than tomatoes planted later. You can't rush Mother Nature!

The old adage is to wait until Mother's Day to plant tender annuals and veggies. The weather is supposed to turn cooler this weekend again - yuk!

In a mad burst of energy, I planted veggie seeds last weekend (lettuce, beans, peas, carrots, beets, radishes, chard, spinach), and divided some perennials. All of the packets said to plant after the last hard frost, which is hopefully long past. I won't put out any really tender plants (like tomatoes) for another month, though, and I've got some flower seeds that can't be planted until the nights are consistently above 55 degrees.
