I'd like to hear input here as well. I've seen a bluebird checking out one of my houses, but that's been several weeks back and no sign of his since. Right now I'm having my annual battle with the sparrows that want to move in. (They start to build nest; I clean it away. Rinse, repeat. Eventually they get discouraged and move on.) Last year swallows eventually took over the houses. I love swallows, but I'd really like to get bluebirds....

A bird bath if a great way to attract bluebirds or any bird for that matter. I have a blue bird house up though they don't use it. They do use the bird bath frequently as that is where I see them most often.

Bluebirds like mealy(spell?) worms. I have never tried this since we have bluebirds without providing the worms, but I have read about bluebirds in Birds and Blooms. I think you can get the worms at a fish bait store. They are only about an inch long.

We also have a bluebird house which they use, but other birds will try and use it also, and if there are baby bluebirds, the other birds will pull them out of the nest.

I have BB's in my backyard and a nestbox too and I feed them mealworms. However, the BB's came before the mealworms or the nestbox. The first year they just nested on a header under the deck (it is 9 feet high).
