Hijack of Rose post below.

Hi all you rose growers,

I have one rose that I planted last year as a memorial for my grandmother who passed away. Her name was Dorothy and she always wore pink. I planted Super Dorothy last summer (I got it from Heirloom Roses). She is looking very healthy and getting quite tall growing up an iron trellis.

Does anyone else grow this rose? When can I expect blooms? Any other helpful info is appreciated. I think she is a rambler.

I don't grow her but you're right she is a rambler and supposedly a great one which blooms on and off all summer. She should start blooming around the end of May or the first of June or at least you should be seeing some pretty hefty buds by then. Be sure to fertilize her and also post over on the rose forum. Someone there is sure to have grown her and could probably give you a lot of info.

I have tried to copy you a photo from HelpMeFind.com. If this does not copy you can check out Super Dorothy there. By the description, blooms again later in the season and 8'2", she does sound 'super'.

I think planting a rose or other perennial is a good way to honor and/or remember a loved one.

Holy cow!! If mine gets that big it will be on my roof. I can't tell how that one is supported. Must be some industrial strength trellis!!

Robyn, my mother's name was Dorothy...which is why I ordered a Queen Dorothy iris this year. Thought you might like to know about it. It reblooms and is fragrant.
