Hmmm! Are the Boston Terriers giants, too? LOL That is something in sandy soil...I agree. I used to garden in sand and it ate up all the truckloads of organics, and poop we could scrounge up every year, but I sure liked being able to dig holes.

Will your African Foxglove come back next year? I love plants that grow fast. I've never gotten tired of cannas or elephant ears with their huge leaves. Castor Bean amazes me too. It sure makes me feel like I have a green thumb when a plant towers over my head that I started from a seed or bulb in the spring. Here's a pic of one of my castor beans. I took this awhile back so it's even bigger now. This is from seed that you sent me.

Only the young male is a giant....he can put his paws on the kitchen table and swipe food....he can almost do the same from the stove but not quite....LOL. His sister on the other hand can almost be classified a minature...can't leave chairs out at the table or she'll use them to get up on the table.

South African foxglove is an annual but it always self-seeds so it's always in a few beds.Don't know why all these plants are getting so big. I certainly haven't had time to maintain any of my beds this year other than pulling weeds as I pass by.

I'm taking pix and still lusting after the printer/scanner combo at Wallyworld.Will have to buy it soon to print up cataolg for my new wholesale clients that have been clammoring and complaining for a listing....I'm working on it,I'm working on it! Geesh! Some people are so impatient...LOL!It was hard enough keeping up with the one greenhouse but it's doubley hard with this second one now up and since my biz is right next door to my house,I still get to do all the Susie Homemaker stuff,1 1/2 of yardwork,rental property,livestock and other STUFF.A little more than a year now until hubby retires so I can turn over some of the outside work to him.

Yup,still doing the VFD. Tried to quit but they wouldn't let me. During the week it's just about down to me and another guy that are able bodied. Several older men in their 70's but that still leaves me and other guy to do the heavy lifting. Have you ever ran,spooling off and dragging fire hose in the Aug. heat? It ain't fun.Lots of grass fires this time of year...people flipping cig. out car windows. Makes me want to outlaw cig.

Down to me and another girl(lady but at my age,anyone in their 30's is a girl)doing the 1st.responders and sometimes she's not home.

Hubby knows how to dodge work...LOL...actually he works too hard,10-12 hr.days during the week on hwy. constr.Weekends he tends the livestock and rental properties. I just want to give back livestock duties.

Good going on that castor beans. I like them but I don't get much done in my own yard any more.Thank goodness my new geese and ducks love grass...it gives me an incentive to pull weeds a couple times a day just to shut up all the honking when they see me in the yard....LOL
