Donna, I have lost several too. I think they were literally cooked in the ground this year. That's what I get for keeping the garden to weed free this year! Usually my onions are well shaded with weeds. I will still have a bunch.

If you think you will loose them all, I would start chopping and freezing them for cooking.

That's disappointing. : (
I spread mine out on our shaded porch (on newspapers) to dry where they would get some air but honestly, I don't know what the best method is.
I will have to use mine up soon because when I sent my daughter out to bag them up for me, she decided to be extra helpful and PEELED every single one of them. lol I think you're not supposed to do that but I didn't have the heart to tell her after she'd spent so much time on them. I'm keeping them in our basement which is only a little cooler than the rest of the house.

Some varieties of onions do store better than others. Copra is one that I've seen recommened.
