I think you need something (another palm) to pollinate your seeds. I don't think you'll have any germinate, but dont let that stop you from taking very good care of your seeds.

I am pretty certain that all species of the genus Chamaedorea, are dioecious, meaning male and female flowers are produced in inflorescences on SEPERATE plants. So, you would need to have a male and female plant together in order for pollination to occur. What you likely have most likely a female plant, which will produce sterile seeds that will not grow. Sorry to disappoint ya!

hmmmm interesting..so I probably wasted my time, lol. Well, I'll give it awhile and see what happens..if nothing I'll just re-use the soil.
I DO have 2 plants together in the same pot. The second one just started its 'bloom' about a week ago, way behind the 1st one.
Is there any way to tell if its a male or female? Wouldn't it be nice if I had one of each lol..too bad its not an obvious sign like on humans, lmao, that'd be scary.

But, if they aren't really 'flowers'..how would they get pollinated? I assumed because of how they look, the are self pollinating type things...I mean really, they are just tiny balls the whole time. So how would one get pollinated?

Well let me tell you about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees!!! That was a song back in the 60's,I believe by a group called the Animals,some body correct me if I'm wrong!!!If there some old guys on here!!!LOL

Mostly by ants and the wind do the pollinating around here for me,not many bees left around here I see anymore.
Although I have taken a small thin water color paintbrush and did my own pollinating!
