If its the crimson tear passiflora it only likes morning sun mine wilts in afternoon sun .I think its happy with about 4 hours in the morning.But I live in texas too and our morning sun could cook a egg.

Vitifolia is often sold as "Crimson passion flower." Morning sun will be fine, but if you plan on planting it in the ground, you probably need to reconsider. I don't believe it could survive your winters in Georgia. If you put it in a sizeable pot with good drainage, it should grow enough to train over the front door. Then you can trim it back by half during the winter to bring inside.

I keep my vitifolia in full sun all day and it does well. I have to water it frequently but it doesn't seem to suffer in the afternoon sun. I agree about having to take it in over the winter.
