Red's going to be the tough one. Most red passiflora don't stand cold weather. I'm in 8b and have planted a Lady Margaret cutting in a protected spot on the south face of my house (since LM has incarnata as one of its parents, and *may* have inherited that cold-hardiness). But it's experimental at this point.

Passiflora that WILL grow for you and come back year after year include incarnata (native), caerulea, caerulea var. "Constance Eliott", Incense, lutea and possibly Amethyst. I believe some of the hybrids, such as Belotti and Inspiration will tolerate cold as well. Most of those listed will regrow from the roots in the spring, with the vine dying to the ground in freezing weather. But none of them are red--most fall into the blue/violet/purple/white range of flowers.

That being my experience as well.. There are some beautiful blues to choose from...If you get the red you can keep it in the house..They don't take up to much space.. unless you have about 30 of them...LOL..
