weather

This is the weather that makes you appreciate spring. Christie you can start counting the days. I have a cold. I do not want to go outside; I didn't even get the mail today. All of you with kids and grand kids are probably having an exciting time. I am consoling myself by eating no bake oatmeal cookies and a whole box of cherry mash candy that somebody I know didn't like.

Sorry to hear that you have a cold, helenh
The common cold lasts for nine days, no medication can shorten that period. Take all precautions to avoid secondary infections, like pneumonia!
I usually get a cold in the middle of summer, when few people have them, so I am left to suffer alone, with little sympathy from the family.
When I am suffering from that common ailment, I only eat chicken noodle soup and drink hot chicken bouillon (broth)
Whether that old wive's remedy has any basis in scientific fact or not, isn't important, I suppose, since it makes me feel better!

Spring (vernal equinox) of 2009 arrives at 1146UTC (6:46 AM CDT) on March 20 and I'm already looking forward to that day! This has been the coldest late fall season I've experienced in recent memory.
I'm sure my plants have been vernalized and are also ready for spring!
Guess we should count our blessongs, as the morthern tier of states is really suffering from winter woes, snow, ice, high winds, blizzard conditions, downed trees, power outages, etc.
Even the PNW, Seattle, Portland areas, isn't escaping this year!
    Keep warm!

Hope you're feeling better soon Helen.
I think they need to give the common cold a more horrible sounding name. "Common" makes it sound like a person should just breeze right through it with no suffering or complaining and I always do plenty of both. I haven't had a cold yet this year but had a 24 hour stomach bug earlier this week that lasted 48 hours. I ran a fever with it, along with a couple other symptoms I won't mention. Watch out for that one because it's no fun to catch.

The Ozarks forum has been slow this week. I hope everyone has just been busy getting ready for Christmas and isn't sick in bed. Bonnie hasn't posted for awhile.

I'm hoping that freezing rain they're talking about misses us today. It may get slick for awhile later this morning. Be careful if you're out and around.

Ok Helen - Let's count down the days. That would be 8 days left in December + 31 in Jan + 28 for Feb and 20 for March. That's..... 87? 87 days til spring! We'll have some nice days here and there before spring though. Sometimes even in January so hang in there and get over that cold so you can enjoy the next nice day.

Helenh, take care of yourself, I'm finding Benadryl helps my breathing even with a cold, thats what bothers me the worse, having my head all stopped up.
Christie, it's been doing that freezing rain/mist here since 6AM--decks slick already
Chickens don't get let out in this weather, they have big feeders and waters, so they're OK--sounds as if I have a lot, dont it? Bout 28, I think--and that includes too many roosters-But--then I couldnt get rid of my 2 (or is it 3) Silkie roosters--or the Millie Fluer-or the Porcelean (?)-or the--
I have lots of great-grandchildren--but now they go to grandma's-and I'm expected to go there too. Some won't be here--and some I've never seen.
Everyone have a safe and Merry CHRISTmas.

Thanks for the kind words. I must be getting better because I am thinking of projects to work on when we have a warm day. I hope the Friday forecast does not change.
