Good photo! It looks professional. Did you use special settings on your camera to blur the background?

I have to admit, I spent very little time looking through the user guide when I bought my camera last year. I use the auto setting most of the time and use macro for closeups. I've never taken the time to learn how to use the manual settings but I need to.

I think I had a senior moment here!

I took it from inside the kitchen, looking east. I used the zoom with Macro setting. I think it is the macro that blurs the background. I am cheating on the camera and not using the manual much. A sweet person on the Cooking Forum has posted a course on how to take inside food pictures. I am reading and rereading it and followed her suggestions for the bird pictures. The only thing is I can't control the light like you cant taking food photos.

I have vowed to learn to use this darned camera beside pointing and shooting. She goes into all of the settings.

Thanks for posting that link Glenda. I'll check it out. I might get more from her blog that's written in easy to understand language than I would from a user guide.

One of the things that makes your photo pretty is the colors. There's a little bit of golden tan in the sparrow's wings that's the same color as the dried hydrangea. At least it looks that way on my computer.

That is a beautiful photo. I found it searching for your camera comments. Christie has some good ones too. What a sweet little bird. Christie is right; it is the color that makes it great.

Helen, I am glad you found it. I think my picture taking has deteriorated! I went to the original picture and found what setting I had used and will reset my camera and see if that will make a better shot....ISO was 100 on this and I have been using 200.

They recently added some info in the FAQ's of the Butterfly forum for photography. I'm anxious for summer so I can try it out. I've been pretty lazy about learning to use all the settings on my Point and Shoot Sony.
