Thanks for the compliments. The before was a small kitchen and family room where the majority of the kitchen space is now. We added a 6' x 20' space to the back where the dining area is.
I cast the counters myself using Buddy Rhodes concrete products with his pressed technique (bone on bone coloration). We love the counters for their "soft" texture and massive scale. Our aim was to respect the mid century architecture of the current home through clean lines and simplicity and utilize materials that created warmth in the space. The use of he concrete in conjunction with the wood cabinets and counters (walnut, maple and zebra wood) achieve this warmth in a space with some very strong lines and details.

That would be a 16' x 20' addition (not 6').

This is a gorgeous retreat-like setting!
