Mine don't when I winter them over in the greenhouse. I still keep an incense in the greenhouse because I don't get blooms from the ones that are in ground until mid summer.

I think I need to ask my friend more questions--we've only communicated by email. I looked back at her original question and she said that the plant had dropped its lower leaves, leaving only those near the ceiling. She didn't say whether it was sudden or gradual, though--she had just been hoping that the plant would fill the window to block an ugly view. She sent me a picture of a beautiful flower a couple months ago, so the plant can't be too unhappy--unless conditions have changed. She's quite good with plants, so that's not an issue.

Maybe the solution is as simple as a little pruning (or a lot)? I have very little experience growing plants inside long-term, no experience when it comes to passionflowers. Can I assume that Incarnata and its hybrids (I still need to see if she knows the identity of the plant) are more tolerant of severe pruning because they grow from their roots?

Or is there a way to encourage new growth (suckers) for incarnata and its hybrids? I could swear that I've seen this question here before.

I don't know but would assume that tip pruning would encourage branching but then you are waiting longer for flowers. The incense that I have in the yard suckers like crazy. I have vines coming up 10 feet away from the original plant. My incarnata hasn't spread as much but that might be because it's a younger plant and was much smaller then the incense was when I put it in the garden.

The passies that I have inside and in the greenhouse aren't nearly as lush and the blooms aren't as vibrant as when they are outside and I use 1000 watt HID lights. All the tender ones and a few of the hardy passies are protected from about mid Oct thru mid May. The 3 that are in the garden year round don't come up until early summer. We've had a few nights with frost but the hardy passies haven't suffered any damage yet.
