This is a Wal Mart Special. It was supposed to be Bowl of Beauty. Two roots came in the package. This one is almost 5' tall in bloom. It blooms heavily and holds up well. The other root is almost identical but the plant in considerably shorter and has a better fragrance.

And this is my very first ITOH peony flower, Bartzella. It was a Lowes purchase last spring for $29.95. It went from 6 small eyes to 9 large eyes but only one flower this year. My hopes for next year are considerably higher.

I'm always surprised at how lovely some of the Walmart "pig in a poke" bare root bagged peonies can be. I got some a few years ago at a ridiculously low price - all were, of course, mislabeled and singles. But beautiful and standouts in the gardens.

Tim, lovely. How did it go with your tree peony? Did it bloom as you had hoped?

All of the flowers on my tree peony were pink. The flowers were lovely anyway. Perhaps the real color will eventually show up.

This is Dinner Plate. Definitely spectacular. And the scent is lovely and not overwhelming.
