sheet mulching

Have heavy clay soil and never see worms. Just learned about sheet mulching and anxious to try it in our new yard. We are in new subdivision in which developer left little or no topsoil. Most of the topsoil under our centipede grass is from two years of grass mowing. Once I apply sheet mulching will the worms come?? Remember- "Built it and they will come" OR do I need to add worms into the layers I apply.

We live in what is called the Low Country in SC, at 17 feet elevation and very flat.

sheet mulching/raised garden beds/square foot gardening you name it all the same thing dressed up differently.

check our site for garden ideas these ideas could also be sued to build up your soil in the whole ayrd over time ie.,. set up a bed with no permanent edges then after a couple of seasons use spread that out a little and make new beds in the next spot that you want to reclaim.

throw lots of gypsum around do a ph test maybe? if need be and it is acid then use dolomite at the prescribed rate, the worm will come back in droves. and best bit all this amending can be achieved without turning a single sod.
