Earthworm - major good guy! I am amazed that you found them in orchid pots. If they'll stay, be thankful. They do great things for the soil.

The little bugs that got you last year are probably pill bugs. Not sure how to deal with those around orchids...

Earthworms are far happier outside in the garden. In a container, they will process the potting medium until it turns to sludge, not anything I would consider as beneficial within the confines of a pot.

Worm poop is fabulous in the garden and that's where your earthworm should go.

How did they get into the container?

That worm was about 1 inch long.

My orchids are always indoor, using only commercial orchid media and nothing else from the ground. But the one in question was purchased about a year ago from a reputed grower, and I haven't repotted it yet. There are some other plants that I move around indoor/outdoor, perhaps that's how the worms got in. Can they move across pots?

Thanks for the tips. So it seems not a big deal. I'll keep an eye on the orchid. It is growing well so far. It is an expensive Paphiopedilum Prince Edward Of York. I really don't want it to be killed by bugs.
