Kim, That's a lovely harvest. Just because a harvest is small doesn't mean it isn't perfectly wonderful. Even one bean pod is lovely when it is yours.

Like Larry said, the larger harvest is a sign you're growing (ha, pun intended) as a gardener too. It takes time to develop into a gardener who gets consistent harvests because gardening can be more complicated than it seems. That is especially true in locations like yours where it seems like the weather can be so unkind some years.

I hope that y'all enjoy every yummy bite and I hope that next year you get an even larger harvest.

I knew yall wouldn't laugh but I am excited since I got 0 last year. I learn every year more and more and that's what counts. I definitely will move the potato bed to full sun next year. This years bed was only getting about 4 hours 11-3.

We did enjoy every bite cooked all together with onion.
I went ahead and dug all the plants since the skins were ready and cleaned up another bed to replant for fall.
I got 2 1/2 # potatoes off 6 plants
3 # of carrots that were hiding and
6# cucumbers
plus a bunch of beets that were hanging out in a shady bed. Roasted with fresh herbs and onions will be a nice dinner.
I am thrilled and when I get to garden at my new place I will be ready and full of experience!

Congrats on the lovely harvest. I feel like gardening experience is never wasted because, as you noted, even if you don't get a harvest, you gain experience from working the soil and planting. All that experience pays off down the road.
