Ants like to nest in soils that are somewhat dry, so thoroughly wetting the soil in those pots could cause them to move to a more friendly environment.

BKKplanter, adding a small amount of lemon juice to the water increases their motivation to leave.

I believe the white things they are carrying are grubs. From what I have been told ant eggs are microscopic and you would not be seeing them.

I too am having ant problems and am allergic to chemicals so trying to do it on my own with the ant pro station and the gourmet ant liquid which is low dose boric acid they take back to the nest to kill off the colony. Only problem is this is the first year they do not seem to be taking to it so I just ordered a fresh bottle. Hope it was just too old and lost its umph.

Diatomaceous earth is non toxic to humans and animals. I battle these little pests every year. Inside and out. I can't keep cereal or anything like that in my cupboard. Ever since they dug up the ground in back of my house to build a day care I've been struggling with them. And so does the day care.
