Someone mentioned using aluminum foil but I can't remember which side was supposed to be out-- the shiny or the matte surface. I think it might look a little peculiar to boot, like you are trying to ward off alien brain waves from attacking your plumeria.

I've been wondering if you can use diluted white latex paint on plumeria for sun protection. We use it on avocado and citrus, would it hurt the plumeria?

Hey toomanydogs, I use diluted latex mixed with copper fungicide to protect my citrus trunks. All my visitors ask me why I painted my trees. LOL. It works good and it will work on plumerias. However, you cannot get it off and your trees will look odd.

You can also use an opaque plastic film (like a newspaper bag). You can punch a hole at the bottom and tape the ends on the branch. It is also rainproof.

With aluminum foil, you can make it any size or shape you need. Shiny side out would reflect more of the sun rays, but it probably really doesn't matter which side is out. Heavy duty foil tends to stay on better than the other kind.
