Bring some heat back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK 95 with a dew point of 75 was a bit much last week but can't we get a happy in between. Now were strugling to hit 80 and to stay above 60 at night. Whats wrong with 86 and 66. It's been like this up here all summer up-down, up-down. Come on mother nature, help us northern palm growers out.

careful what you ask for. wheres that global warming when you need it.

I love it.....perfect weather. What I really look for is a 20 degree day/night differential, that way my cymbidiums will bloom up a storm this winter. So far so good. Looks like a good blooming winter.

You can have ours, 99F - 79F every damn day, and severe drought.

94 forecasted here today and no rain. Once again I will be the rain. Me and my trusty hose. With the humidity factored in we get heat indexes of 105+ every day. Heat is not always a good thing.
Besides AndyAndy, 80/60 is a zone 12 climate so what are you complaining about? Your plants probably like it a lot better than 95/75. Heat does = TROPICAL but EXTREME HEAT really doesn't. Heat is good, EXTREME HEAT can be detrimental. Sure its hot and steamy on the rainforest floor, but the forest canopy keeps it from being extreme heat.

The grass is always greener on the other side. It is very comfortable here. I would like one more heat wave before September to bring out the finishing touches on current fronds coming out. Especially on my coconuts. It's always nice also to have a strong spear emerging before the 8 months I have to move them inside for.

Do yall get that cool morning breeze associated with the tropics?

unautre...whats rain...I havent seen any of that in months. We need some bad, I can honestly say, I have not cut the grass in weeks.

The grass is always greener on the other side....until you make it to where I am. The grass is dead brown--bring on some rain please!!

Rain has not been a problem here. At least not until the last week or so. I have had to water the garden a couple of times this past week. People always associate dry weather with hot weather. It's been coolish here with a high tomorrow of 76 but that humidity is way down. The sun just sucks the water out of the ground even when only in the 70s. For those of you who havn't seen any rain I will do a dance for you.

Make it a GOOD dance! Lots of keening, wailing and arm waving! Little booty shaking wouldn't hurt either.

You got it, I'm having a party Saturday night so I'm sure we'll be properly lubricated.

properly lubricated. LOL, what does this have to do with a party? LOL

orchiddude, if you have to ask, then you need to get out more! LOL ;)

But back to topic, no kidding! This morning we woke up to 16C (61F) temps! bbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr

Please send more heat back up to Canada.... the Igloos are starting to firm up again! *snicker*

I have several wild ideas. LOL, but after I reread the post, I am going to guess that drinking is what we will associate with the phrase. Although when I think of properly lubricated, I don't think of drinking. So, maybe AndyAndy can fill us in on what this phrase really means. I try to get out more, and see the world, but I guess its a southern thang. LOL

It means that the Labbats will be flowing and the campfire will be raging, nothing more I assure you.

I think of getting the car fixed.
That's not too D and S is it?

    Bihai-
I'm afraid that went over my head. I'm not sure what the D and S stand for.

    NOT FAIR ANDY... NOT! FAIR!

It's not nice to mention Labatts while I'm sitting here at work.... just not fair! >sniff sniff

Two and a hlaf hours and counting. My first cool labatts since Sunday.

Sorry Andy you'll have to look it up (do a Google).
No Labats for us, its gonna be Chardonney and cheese and crax by the pool THEN we'll decide on dinner. It was 97 at 3pm when I was coming home from being in town. All that NASTY concrete...then I get to my lovely 2 lane scenic road surrounded on either side by miles of woods and the temp dropped to 92.

Its like when you are in So Cal in Los Angeles and you are driving out Mulholland Blvd and you drop out of the city proper and into the Valley...temp changes by about 10 or more degrees instantaneously, if you have your car window down you can feel it.

I can taste the wine now...only 1 1/2 hours til hubby gets home! TGIF everyone!

    Yall are so funny.

Its been Friday all day to me....I have done nothing all day. LOL :-) I mean nothing...I love those days. Nothing, I wasted the whole day. Looking back, I wished I had done something but nope, not a thing. Now I kinda of feel guilty. Oh well....wine and cheese by the pool sure sounds nice and then a good mexican dinner. I ate mexican now I need to find a pool. LOL

hmmm that reminds me. There's a new (1 year) Mexican place near by that we must try out, perhaps today, not that you've reminded me.

We did have a chance to chat with one of the owners and (you'll be shocked by this) they are ACTUALLY from Mexico! And they donÂt use frozen fake food either! All made just like back home! Que rico! Como me encanta comida MexicanaÂ. Tengo hambre ahorita! jejejeje

An NO, it wasn't one of those ethnic places run by Chinese owners. Oh great! Now IÂm thinking about Chinese foodÂ.. arrrgh! LOL );)

See Orchid! you started sumfin again! ;)

well we ended up down at a local bar and hangout, switched from Chard to Syrah, were yakking it up with the owner and discussing the new $1 million conservatory that the local botanical garden wants to build (by financing it by raising the tourist bed tax...the tax they charge you to rent a hotel room here during...well..mostly graduation from the University and football season). I told him to tell the Director I'd donate some containerized heliconias to the conservatory (if they build it)...I may call them up on Monday and reiterate that offer as I want to get rid of these plants before winter.

It was Labatts and some kind of Captain Morgan drink (orange/pineaplle flaovour) The party broke about about 2:00 am.PEEEEEEEEEEEEEERFECT weather. 80 dry and sunny both days. low 60s at night. God I wish it were like this 365.

Well, the heat's not back but definitely the humidity. I slept with the windows open last night but man was it bad when I woke up--70F and 93% humidity was not very pleasant.

Bring the 50's back (@ night) with 45% humidity!!

The palms have really slowed down though, so I feel your pain Andy. I had several new spears pushing out on my washy but ever since the 80F dew points ended that has almost come to a hault. Oh well, at least our clothes don't get glued to our skin any longer.

The humidity moved in here last night as well. It was still comfortable sleeping, it was about 75% this morning. It does keep the overnight temps up though. My washys are still growing all be it slower. They get about 9 hours of sun so that helps. My 5 foot coconut just started pushing up a new spear a couple of days ago so that was exciting. I plan on putting a heat mat around it after this rainy weather moves out. Right now there's really no need as it only fell to 69 last night and it's supposed to be about the same tonight. Good luck with yours. Hopefully we'll have a warm September.

You have at least one of your washy's in the ground right? Are you planning on extensively protecting come this winter or dig up/bring inside?

Pardon me if I've already asked you that question, I think I may have.

    It's been a hell of a week.
