I doubt those bugs are making them drop. More likely they're ready to pick.

Those are leaf-footed bugs, one of the members of what is called the 'true bug' group of critters. Stinkbugs belong in the same category.

hi! I realize this is an old thread but I have this same exact issue with these same true bugs. Wondering if you were ever able to find a solution and/or if you determined whether the fruit is safe to eat after the bug have been on it.

pick one.. open it ... and see if its ripe ... if so .. eat it.. throw rind away ..

no one... in the WWW can tell you when a fruit is ripe ... and you are picking to late.. if they are falling from the tree ... though some fruit do need additional ripening.. after picking ...

but in falling.. many are so damaged.. they rot.. before they ripen ...

The bugs won't make it unsafe. Open it up. If it looks good, it's good. There may be a spot damaged but it'll be obvious and you can just remove that part.

Much less gross than insects that actually live inside a fruit!
