Picture Wing Fly (ceroxys latiusculus). May be laying eggs in your flower buds, but as far as I know, they don't do much damage. They are more of a nuisance (they like to hang out around houses and buzz around in the garden) than a pest.

if you find no damage... then they need not be eradicated ... in terms of the plant ... dont go thinking you have to kill everything ...

its a different question... if they are BUGGING you .... and we can cross that bridge.. if and when it happens ...

IPM requires a problem.. before we solve it ...

but dont get me wrong.. IDing them.. is a great start ... but lets leave it there.. until there is a problem ...

Thank you both for your replies and I apologize for not responding sooner. I was not being unappreciative- I had an emergency that took me out of town.

These guys don't seem to be causing any problems, but was just concerned if I may had been missing something, or if I needed to keep a closer eye on them for some reason. I will just let them be, unless they do eventually become a problem. By the sound of it though, I shouldn't have any great concern. Thanks again!
