mpg??

Ok for years MPG Forum was very consistently busy during growing season, but this year its dead, literally like 6 members posting. Kind of sad to see. Seems like all the forums seem to have faded away like Plumiepals, Singapore Passion (and YES its plumeria related not X rated.), even the Florida society forum is not as busy as it was. I know there are all these FB plumie pages like Plumeria Addicts, Plumeria Growers, etc., but even they are not that active...
Some have stated that all the plumie in fighting among the posters have worn people out, or chased them away.

Sad

Hey James. Good to see you! How's your weather this week? Hot and humid here, of course. :)

I find that the Plumeria Addicts FB is very active even though I don't participate much. As far as MPG goes, several years ago I tried numerous times to join. I don't remember what the problem was but I finally gave up. From time to time I do scan posts but I find it frustrating that I can't post on something that interests me. I try to stay away for that reason! LOL

This is the best forum of them all to me. Love the people here and I miss many of those that haven't been posting much. Like Andrew, in particular. And Greg and Stuart. Haven't seen much of Peg lately. Or Bill. I used to scour this forum for postings from Bill when I had problems or a question.

I hope you don't find greener grass someplace, too!

I noticed that about the MPG forum as well and because of that I don't even get on there anymore - the link to get to the forum isn't even on their webpage anymore either. This GW one is the most active one around I think!

    Hey Moonie,
Hope all is well and green for you in NC. Did I ask you this before, are your temps the same as Ashville?

    Elucas101,
I kind of think that all the fighting and headaches and babysitting was more then Jennifer or Doug wanted to deal with. The irony is when Spike ran GW he didnt put up with much so if you offended you were banished/banned/blocked.
If you were banished when you tried to access GW you were redirected to some Disneyland site..lol People would say "I was sent to Disneyland"..lol
Once Spike got rid of all the trouble makers the forum ran smoothly and there has never been any issue, not to mention the longevity as this is probably the oldest running still very active plumeria forum going. The FB Plumie pages have stuff going on but its different, lots of people from other countries on there so that is interesting.

Well hope GW keeps on going.

    Cheers

James - Yes, you have asked me that before and I just looked at summer averages for both Asheville and here. Seems to be about 5 degrees hotter here on average.

I wonder what ever happened to spike? Lots of people had to take the teacup ride but I was good and never got sent to Disneyland. :)

MPG forum is antiquated and a nightmare. Hard to join, hard to post, half the time it doesn't work, it's no wonder nobody posts there. They are all on facebook. LOTS of activity there. They post every 2 minutes, lots of pics, lots of info, lots for sale. Lots of forums all in one place. I'm no fan of FB but for Plumeira pics and info, it's GREAT!

Sorry to intrude, but what does MPG stand for? Other than miles per gallon. I was thinking an auto forum. :)

SagoLove: It stands for MauiPlumeriaGardens which hosts a plumeria discussion board.

I use to lurk on MPG often and notice that too the site has died down quite a lot.

But fortunately, the GW plumeria forum has been gaining lots of traffic. I remember the days back in the early to mid 2000s and the infamous plumie dance and purple plumeria discussions lol. It was quite active then but I think it's even more active here now.

    Moonie,
I never got a virtual ride to Disney either, but people would tell me about it. The first time someone told me they got the boot and after that would get redirected to "Disneyland", I laughed soooo hard I almost had an accident.

I know Ashville has really great weather, so yours must be nice its only 5 degrees higher.

Thanks musaboru. Too bad when such forums are fading away...

You got booted to Disney for a lot of things, certain words, being nasty....the whole cactus forum would be booted off if Spike were still around lol! He sold out to Ivillage, hung around for awhile and then took the money and ran. I miss Spike. I got booted to Disney for a posting a pic of an amorphophallus on the Texas forum with the meaning of amorphophallus. Deformed penis got me.
The FB plumeria groups seem pretty active right now, lots of postings. The Yahoo groups not so active but a couple are running along well.
I think so many people use their phone for everything these days, maybe Gardenweb needs an app.
    Tally HO!

IMHO, this is a marvelous group of folk who are active on this forum. I have learned and laughed a lot. I'm still contemplating the egg in with the cutting. :)

Deformed penis? Off with her head! Off to Disneyland! That's hysterically funny. Maybe you should have said "shapeless penis", that's more refined.

I think it was the penis, not so much that it was deformed. I miss all my amorphs, another group that fell victim to Ike.

Depending on how much you pissed him off your time at Disney could be a one time shot, like the deformed penis, or for a month. I never went for a month lol!

one of the cuttings with an egg didn`t make it, dumping out the pot I found a perfect egg, hollow-you know I had to crack it open. The ones that rooted there is no trace of the eggs. Right now the silly girls insist on trying to hatch them. The eggs I mean, not the plumeria.
    Tally HO!
