Drew, this is a wild guess, but from what you are describing, $17 000 doesn't seem too far fetched. Try asking the pond forum, as they will probably know much more about pond construction and the costs involved.

Yep ... $17,000 could be fair .. heck a pond is more or less a custom pool ... these things just don't fall off the shelf there is a lot of hand work.

Get several estimates but more important check references and finished work ... pond work involves quite a bit of craft.

I'd think $17,000 was pretty conservative, given the ground is relatively level now, so constructing a sufficient grade change and bringing in enough rock to make it work and look the slightest bit natural is going to be a pricey undertaking.

Perhaps pricing is different in OH than in WA, but $17,000 would be a damn good price for that work here.

I built my own 6000 gallon pond and I spent $5000. That doesn't count labor or profit of any kind. From what I have gathered it would have cost around $20,000 to have someone else do it. Mine has a waterfall, but no stream.

Price is fair in US dollars if you are getting 220v main pump and 115 filter pump both wired on included timer, uv and biological filters included, 45 mil epdm liner, natural stone, concret bond-beam... but I think the pond is gonna be real small for that kind of water flow unless it is VERY deep.
