Hi everyone.

I need your knowledge on a dilema.

I'm trying to root cuttings from Prunus laurocerasus (English laurel) for a hedge. I Have the cuttings grouped in 3 large pots full with sand. All are inside glass cabinets sealed almost air tight with plastic transparent bags to preserve humidity. I haven't used soil or fertilizer. Just sand and water with some honey diluted in it as antiseptic.

I'm getting a weird smell like bad cheese from one of the glass cabinets. From touch and visual inspection nothing seems to be rotting. The cuttings seem to be fine.

Any idea where this comes from? Is it possible from the humidity and stale water at the bottom of the cabinet?

Any suggestions for taking action? Should I continue to keep them enclosed or let them in the shade in open air?
