take cuttings now... apply 0.3% IBA (Rooting hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist.
bottom beat helpful. takes 25-50 days to root

I have Fastroot which is .10% and hormodin 3 which is .8%, will this be a problem?
Also where should I cut? The stem branches out with flower on the right and left. I assume I clip the flowers off and cut the stem lower. But how long should the stem be? How many nodes do I need in the ground?

I have had a high degree of success with germination of Pentas seeds planted 6 May, 2008.The seeds are very small and difficult to remove from the capsule. Rooting may be accomplished simply by cutting the stem at or just below a node, removing all flowers, and lightly scraping the stem at the cut end. While a hormone preparation is often quite beneficial, a water-retentive,but well drained rooting medium is a must. Rooting in early June required about 6 weeks here in central Virginia. GOOD LUCK!

General :
I purchased one Pentas. From my cuttings have come many dozens of nice Pentases.
Number of cuttings that root is low percentage of number attempted.
And many rooted ones do not survive, either.

Particular :
I cut to have 3 leaf nodes (would take more, but I want to keep plants high).
Small bits of leaves retained on top; middle bare node also above soil;
one node in soil does work (more would be better).
Use the weaker strength of IBA.

I don't own any hormone for rooting and had excellent luck with Pentas cuttings (100% unless I'm forgetting any spots where I stuck them) until it got into the 40's at night. Cuttings taken after that rotted. When it's warm out, your luck should increase drastically. The cuttings described in the last post sound too small, but I wasn't sure if the 3 leaves are what's left above soil, or the size of the whole cutting.
