This is normal. I have got both in the past so it is nothing to worry about. Remember it does take at least 9 months before they are ready. Great job, Barb

Thanks, Barb! I was really surprised to see pods this year since the poor things had to battle several different pests over the summer. (I helped, of course.)

Now if I can just keep the wind from blowing them off I'll be set.

The pods are basically the same. The one on the left has a strong bond holding the two parts together. I sometimes pop them apart so they can split apart and grow like the one on the right.

Thanks, tdogdad! I didn't know if that would harm things or not. It is well protected from wind by the branches, so I may leave it be this time.

I mentioned to some neighbors that I had a seed pod. They have all come to look at it. Even my botanist friend. None have ever had pods - which I found curious since there are some nice trees on my street. I'll bet they just didn't notice them. Anyway, hopefully I can keep them to maturity!

We used to visit a nursery in Punta Gorda that only grew Plumerias. He would put a mesh bag or cloth around the seed pod and secure it so the seeds stayed intact.

That sounds like a very good idea, Zackey. Being the hovering mother-type gardener, I will do that when they get closer to maturity. I understand it will be a while!
