Hello,

I'm trying to learn the art of transplanting the inexpensive little minis you can get for $3 down at the local grocery. So far, I've learned that I can manage not kill the plants if I trim off all the blooms before the transplant.

I'm wondering if any of you can help me identify the problems on this rose I planted about 7 weeks ago. I've attached a photo for reference. It's got three issues:

1) This is the one I'm worried about the most. Perfectly healthy leaves in new growth are getting dead spots that turn whitish, waxy, and slightly translucent. If you look very close, there appears to be tiny little black specks on the leaves like some sort of mold. A good specimen of this can be seen near the center of the photograph, and on the top left, where it has spread to some new growth. This doesn't look like black spot to me, and I haven't seen any bugs beyond a lone spider the other day. Anyone have any ideas?

2) A lot of the new growth, particular along the shoot near the left in the photo, is appearing stunted, twisted, and deformed. Where this happens, it seems to be holding back additional growth. On shoots where it "gets past" this stage, the plant does fine, so it seems to be just a matter of waiting, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to prevent this, or help the plant "get past it" Is this just a side-effect from the heavy-duty herbicides they would have been using where it was grown, or is it something else I should be worried about?

3) Many of the older growth leaves appear seared along the edges; sometimes almost halfway down the leaf. I'm speculating this is due to the transplant, something like the roots being damaged and something not getting enough water. Very little of the new growth seems to have this problem, unless the watering is missed for a few days when I go out of town, so I'm pretty sure I've nailed it, but I'd like to get a second opinion.
